Reading
We have finished up our final book club books for the school year.  We worked on these new levels for 3 weeks and the students began to really understand their levels.  Comprehension is one of the keys to reading and we worked hard at understanding our books.  Keep reading this summer to maintain your child’s level.

Math
We have finished up our math for the year.  We worked very hard all year to understand a wide variety of concepts.  These past weeks we worked on money!  This can be a difficult unit but we worked very hard!  We learned the names of the penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.  Then we spent time learning how much they are worth.  We even did a little counting of money.  Please continue to work on this at home over the summer.  They had a great time doing this and cannot wait to show you their ability.  Keep up all the hard work this summer!

Reading:
We have been working very hard on our book club books.  We were all just re-tested and trying out our new levels before summer.  These levels are very important to the students!  They love to see how the books change as they move through the levels.  Please keep reading over the summer!   By practicing their reading skills over the summer they will be able to maintain their level.

Math:
We spent the last weeks working on skip counting.  This can be a difficult task.  We really spent most of our time working on counting by 5’s and 2’s.  Please work on this at home some also!  They have been skip counting by 5’s to 100 and skip counting by 2’s to 10.  Ask them to show you what they have learned!

Science/SS
In Science they are discussing living and non-living things.  They are very excited because this will lead into an animal report!  In SS we just finished up our unit on People, Places, and Events.  We are now focusing our last unit on People and the Government.  We are excited to learn about all of this!
