100th Day Writing!

We spent a bit of our time on some 100th day writing!  It was great to see what we would like 100 of, what we don't want 100 of, and what we can lift 100 of in our classroom!  We hope that you enjoyed those papers as they came home!

We also spent some time writing to 100.  They had to fill in the missing numbers on a 100's chart!  They loved doing this activity!

100th Day Hats!

On the 100th day of school we got together with our 2nd grade buddies and made hats!  Oh these weren't just any old hats they had 100 items on them.  It was great for us to spend some time counting plus just getting to be with our buddies is always a lot of fun!

These are just the buddies that happen to be in my room on that day!

3D Shape Dancing!~

We are busy learning about our 3D shapes in math currently!  We have a fun song that we sing and dance to that helps us remember the 4 shapes we are working on.  Please ask your child about this song and practice these 3D shapes with them.  We are working on Sphere, Cylinder, Cube and Cone!

Enjoy!!

The Mitten Fun!

We read the mitten and then were able to make our very own mitten.  It was a lot of fun to color, cut, and put together our mittens.  We were even able to add the animals as the story was read!

In math we have been busy working on the 3 dimensional shapes and fractions.  The shapes we learned are cone, cylinder, sphere, and cube.  They found these all over and talked about objects that are these shapes.  This coming week we will be working on halves and fourths.  Our main focus will be on equal parts!  Ask your child about the new shapes we are really working on their names!

·      Work on counting to 100.
·      Practice our Kindergarten Word Wall Words.
·      Have your child start writing sentences.

Reading
We have finished up working with PALS; which is our Peer Assisted Learning System that we used August thru December.  The students have been partnering up and working on sounds, words, and reading skills.  They were very excited about the work we did.  Also we are continuing to work on our Kindergarten words and reading skills.

Math
We have been very busy working on time in our math unit.  We started out working on the days of the week, months, and seasons.  Now we are going to move on to actually telling you the time to the hour.  We are so excited to do this and show you all that we are learning!  Keep working at home on telling time!

Science/SS
In Science the students have been working on trees again.  They are starting to prepare for some experiments.  In Social Studies we have been busy talking about the Earth and our land formations.  This led us into the discussion of a globe.  We loved to see the globe and work with it.

Word Wall Words and Buddies

We have been spending a lot of time working on writing our word wall words so they are spelled correctly.  We also have been doing a variety of games with these words with a buddy.  They LOVE doing this and it is a lot of fun to see them interacting at this level.

Winter Party!

Here are some pictures from our Winter party.  We had a lot of fun.  The food was great and we were able to watch 2 different movies!!  We also LOVED our pajama's!  Thanks for making it special!

A little late...Christmas Fun!

Before our Christmas break we were having a lot of fun doing a variety of activities dealing with Christmas!  Our class spent some time working on things they love about Christmas.

Also in some of our photos you can see that we spent a little time with our 2nd grade buddies.  We discussed snowflakes, read a book, and created our own snowflake because each flake is different.

Unfortunately this is all I have from Christmas on the last week.  I had big plans for all these photos on our last 2 days before break but the weather took over and we were unable to do what was planned.  I will be posting pictures from our "Winter" party we did after break!

Enjoy!!
