5:
We have spent these
last 2 weeks working on blending together 3 and 4 sound words. We also have been putting our focus on
the ending sounds in words. This
can be very tricky as we are used to working the start of words but now we have
moved to the final sound. We take
our time and really sound out the word to figure out the last sound you
hear. Please time some time at
home and give your child a couple words to figure out the ending sound! It is great pratice!
Math:
We
have been very busy Kindergarteners in math these past two weeks. In math we have been busy working on our numbers
to 20. This is a tough concept for
all the students to understand. We
have spent much of our time reading and writing the numbers to 20 currently and
will start going to 30 the following week. Please practice this at home. The
teens are tough!
Writing:
Now that we are
finished with our handwriting we are moving on to doing some of our own
writing. We still utilize all that
practice from the handwriting curriculum because it is important we are forming
our letters correctly. We spent
the last 2 weeks doing a lot of writing about Halloween and being drug free. We have written about our costumes,
favorite candy, pumpkins, and how it feels to be drug free. We will continue our writing as the
time goes on!
Helpful
Hints:
Practice writing numbers to 30.
Practice counting as far as your child can go.
Work on our word wall words that we have brought
home.
Continue to work on writing names with a capital
to start and the rest lowercase.

The students had a great time adding in details and making it there very own special place. Please check these out when they come home on Thursday!!

Red Ribbon Week!
We started our celebration of red ribbon week off strong by wearing red to school on Wednesday. Here are a couple of class pictures. Hope you enjoy them!
I see...
We have really been working on sounding out the words that we want to write. So in this lesson the students had to fill in the blanks for something they see during Halloween. We first brainstormed a variety of things you could see. Then they each had to come up with their own idea and write it down on their paper. Finally they were able to draw what it was that they saw. After we were all done we shared with the class what we saw and showed off our art work!
